The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU) and its Contemporary Music Center (CMC) are pleased to announce a four-day professional development opportunity for faculty and staff:

“Developing a Contemporary Music Curriculum: A Workshop at BestSemester's Contemporary Music Center”

This program visit will provide opportunities for faculty and staff to build, develop, or expand upon a contemporary music curriculum at their own universities.  Topics will include an overview of the state of the music industry, current trends in music marketing, and technologies that are influencing music both in and out of the classroom.  Incorporated in this program visit will be lectures, workshops, presentations by experts, panel discussions, consultation time with the CMC faculty, and opportunities for brainstorming and discussion of curricular issues with colleagues from across the CCCU.  Off-campus study coordinators will enjoy this opportunity to become better acquainted with the Contemporary Music Center, as experienced by their students.  Program guests will also have time to tour and enjoy Martha's Vineyard, Mass.

Start Date:  Sunday, May 18, 2008 (arrival by 5:00 p.m.)  Our first scheduled event will be dinner at 6:00 p.m. with the CMC faculty.

End Date:  Friday, May 23, 2008 (departure by 10 a.m.)

Location & Accommodations:  This program visit will comprise four days in Martha’s Vineyard.  Program guests will stay in the same dormitory-style cabins in which CMC students reside during the academic year.  There is a possibility that guests will have a room to themselves or, at a maximum, there will be two individuals to a room.  Washrooms will be shared.

Requirements:  Participants should bring a laptop computer.

Registration Fee:  $750.00
This fee covers program fees and room/board.  Participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to/from Martha's Vineyard.  The Vineyard can be reached by plane, car, bus or ferry. There are connecting flights year-round to Martha's Vineyard Airport from Boston, Hyannis, Nantucket, New Bedford and Providence.  By car, you're just 85 miles from Boston or about 250 from New York City.  Bus service is available year-round between the Vineyard and Boston, Providence and New York City.  Ferries run to and from Martha's Vineyard from several ports, including Woods Hole, Falmouth and Hyannis, Massachusetts.  Additional transportation assistance can be provided upon completion of your application to the program visit.

Registration Details:  Please click here to access the CMC Program Visit Registration Form.  (Although the official registration deadline of January 15 has passed, we are willing to accept a few additional registration forms.  Please contact Elizabeth Hanna at the contact information below if you wish to submit a registration form after January 15.)  Selection of participants will be made by the director of the program based on submitted registration forms.

Please Note:  The program visit requires a minimum of five participants.  Registration fees will be refunded in the event that it is cancelled.  Please feel free to forward this information to faculty and staff on your campus.
